DJ C. DeVone

Picture
C. DeVone is making her way through the industry with her unique sass and style.  Her start in the nightlife scene as a "Door Girl" and Event Planner at major New York City venues, has heavily influenced and inspired her to become a DJ.

To be able to have an ear for old, new and various genres is what gives C. DeVone the most pride.  The New York natives musical taste and style is reflective of her Bronx upbringing. She spins an eclectic mix of music ranging from House to Hip-Hop, Rock to Soul and R & B to Pop.  Her favorite blend is Eric B. and Rakims "Paid in Full" mixed seamlessly into Madonnas "Justify My Love." This transitional mix is the epitome of her taste in music!

With a client list that already includes Bloomingdales, CLB Trunk Show,  Macys and various New York City venues and the Caribbean; it is clear that C. DeVone has gone from hosting the hottest parties and events in NYC to now spinning at them.

Alexa Dexa

Picture
Alexa Dexa is a soulful girl with bells and bubbles. Her fanciful indie electro-pop-tronic concoctions blend floating vocals, poignant lyrics with catchy hooks, haunting melodies, and dance-worthy beats. (Not to mention a collection of toy instruments that would put many playpens to shame, the most favored of which is her toy piano.) She embodies a freedom of spirit and exhibits pure devotion to evocative tunes and unconventional performance.

There is a striking duality between the mature content of Alexa Dexa's songs and the child-like whimsy that they render. She finds a place of unconditioned wonder to weave into songs that she'll play on your heartstrings. To accompany her performances, she composes installations and creates ethereal atmospheres that melt away the edges of perception.

Toychestra Instrumentation: toy piano, pitched desk bells, typatune, kalimba, bicycle bell, alarm clock, vintage noise-maker, slide whistle, train whistle, baby rattle, guiro, seedpod shaker, rain stick

You can hear more of her work at www.alexadexa.com

Sonia Montez

Picture
As a singer-writer, Brooklyn based Sonia Montez echoes her adoration of humanity and myriad of experiences. She began her musical career at age 6, joining El Coro de Ninos de San Juan, the world renowned children’s choir in San Juan, P.R.. Though she first studied voice and violin, she tired of rote classical training and set out to teach herself the guitar. Following her love of jazz, pop, alternative rock, and folk, she dazzled audiences, even winning the attention of famed producers, Full Force, who she worked with until 2000. At fourteen, Sonia began playing the New York City anti-folk open mic scene whose veterans include Kimya Dawson and Regina Spektor. She says this is where her "artistic self was raised". Montez has gone onto play songwriter circles with the likes of legendary songwriter Chip Taylor and has opened sold out shows on tour stops for Matt Nathanson/Jessie Bailyn and Kaki King/The Mountain Goats. Her first release, 'Of Tears and Honey EP' with Andrew Felluss and his production company, Radian Records, featured some of the best session musicians in New York City, guitarist Gabe Cummins (Dr. John, Aaron Neville) and bassist Mark Kelley (Meshell Ndegeocello, Mos Def, The Roots). Montez joined famed all female international mariachi in NYC, Flor De Toloache as a guitarist and harmony vocalist from 2010 - 2012. Sonia joined forces with The Henry St Players (a band made up of musicians who dominate the local NYC night music scene). The band, alongside long time engineer/producer Felluss and American Cadence Records (Kiernan McMullan, Charlie Abbott, Aaron Shanley) are currently working on a full length album.
